New Technology-Hawk-Eye

A new technology that caught me eye was Hawk-Eye. Hawk-Eye is a complex computer that visually tracks the path of the ball and displays a record of its most statisically likey path as a moving image. Hawk-Eye is used in Tennis, Cricket and other sports. Tennis relies on this system to help determine if the ball was in or out. I believe this technolgy can be used in other sports such as footbal and hockey. In football it can help determine if the ball crossed the goal line. Same thing for hockey, it can determine if the puck completly crosses the goal line.

  1. I've heard of the Hawk-Eye before and even saw a mini special on it on SportsCenter. I think it's amazing. I too thought about this being used in other sports especially hockey. I don't have my hopes up though since not even all rinks have high speed cameras.

  2. I have seen this used before and I think that it is great as well. It takes the guessing out of making a call so the officials know that they are making the right call and it also makes the game fair. I also wish that they would use this in other sports but I guess we will just have to wait and see.

  3. The Hawk-eye is good for all sports. It needs to be utilized in the major sports especially baseball because their is only the replay for homeruns. It would help the umpires to call the right calls instead of blowing a call and causing a team to lose.

  4. This new technology is definitely an impressive one. I agree with Tyler, I feel the major sports should start to use this new technology to help the officials get the right call. Hopefully we will start to see it be used more often.
